Soonchild - Russell Hoban

Waverley Theatre - Devised Performance

Soonchild is a devised promenade piece based of the book of the same name by Russell Hoban, creating an immersive, travel experience for the children with a focus on theatre for deaf audiences. Throughout the show John performed with his hands in shadow using sign language and captioning. The process of devising was incredibly rewarding and the results meant the show was full of colour and detail.
Soonchild follows Sixteen Face John, and his search for the world songs, in the depths of the North so his child Soonchild to be born.
